Libros does accept unsolicited manuscripts!

Your initial submission should include:

1. A brief synopsis of your book
2. The first 20,000 words of your manuscript
3. If you intend to include illustrations with your book, 2 pieces of finished artwork
4. A covering letter giving details about yourself, the kind of book you are submitting, what contacts you have had with other publishers, and including information about any previously published material

The Submission Process

You will be asked to e-mail us a copy of the manuscript and to also send us two printed out hard copies.  The manuscript should be sent to us in 12-point text, A4 format, double-spaced, pages numbered, with normal margins, printed on one side of the paper only.  We are unable to return your manuscripts to you, so please ensure that you retain a backed-up copy for yourself.

We will acknowledge receipt of the hard copies of your manuscript and we will reply within three months of submission with our proposals.

When you submit your full manuscript it is important that it is in its finished form and, as far as possible, error free.

Libros will not accept material that infringes another person’s legal rights and it is the author’s responsibility to ensure that all permissions for material or graphics have been obtained.  We will not publish any material that could be classed as racist or work that is libellous or pornographic.

Once a decision has been made to publish your manuscript, you will be asked to consider what information you would like included on the back cover of your book.  Ideally, this should include a brief summary of the book and should be no more than 100 words.  A biography will also be required (also normally around 100 words).  Please not that a small charge will be made for illustrations completed by Libros International which are required for books, including children’s books (this does not include illustrations for the book cover).

Guidelines for format of Manuscripts

• 12-point text
• A4 format
• Printed on one side of the paper only
• Lines double-spaced
• Pages numbered but no other headers or footers
• Normal margins
• Justified on both sides
• No paragraph indentations at the beginning of chapters or after line breaks
• A new page is not needed for each new chapter, simply leave three lines
• A single, not a double space, at the end of sentences
• Chapter headings should be centred and in bold
